Job summary

Amazon LEO is seeking a Software Development Engineer to design and implement software that controls, monitors, and manages star tracker hardware aboard satellites, focusing on real-time control, Linux integration, and robust build and release validation.

You will work across hardware and software teams to deliver reliable, fault-tolerant flight software, including OTA updates, health monitoring, and autonomous recovery for hundreds of satellites.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development lifecycle with embedded systems experience.
• Proficiency in C and/or C++ for resource-constrained devices.
• Experience with Linux-based development and cross-compilation.
• Experience with Python for test automation and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize flight software for Star Tracker systems in Linux.
• Develop fault-tolerant software with health monitoring and autonomous recovery.
• Build and maintain test, validation, and simulation infrastructure.
• Own end-to-end embedded software delivery lifecycle for satellites.
• Collaborate with hardware, systems, and operations teams for high-speed optical communications.
• Develop autonomous behaviors for in-orbit condition adaptation.
• Improve OTA update processes for satellite maintenance.
