Job summary

Transportation Security Administration (TSA) seeks Federal Air Marshals to protect commercial flights from threats and to operate both in the air and on the ground. This role requires discretion, sound judgment, physical readiness, and firearms proficiency, with frequent travel and irregular schedules.

Ideal candidates will meet either three years of progressive experience, a bachelor’s degree or higher, or a qualifying mix of education and experience.

Qualifications

• Three years of progressively responsible experience demonstrating problem-solving, planning, organization, and communication.
• A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
• A qualifying combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Protect commercial passenger flights from terrorism, aircraft piracy and other threats.
• Work discreetly aboard domestic and international flights.
• Assess developing situations and respond with limited backup.
• Carry a firearm and maintain firearms proficiency.
• Conduct law enforcement, investigative, analytical and advisory activities.
• Identify and interview witnesses or suspects as required.
• Make arrests and execute warrants within legal authority.
• Participate in multi-agency operations with federal, state and local partners.
• Support ground-based transportation-security and counterterrorism missions.
• Perform other specialized assignments, including Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems operations.
