Job summary

Electra in Manassas, VA is seeking an Intermediate Flight Physics Engineer to help design, develop, and test our hybrid-electric eSTOL aircraft. The role requires versatility, fast learning, and collaboration across disciplines in a startup setting.

You will analyze aerodynamic data from CFD, wind tunnel tests, and flight results; assist with CFD workflows; and contribute to design reviews and system interfaces.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Hands-on experience running aerospace CFD solvers such as Flow360, FUN3D.
• Familiarity with mesh generation in Pointwise or similar tool.
• Experience in Python for CFD data analysis, post-processing, automation.
• Familiarity with post processing in Paraview for CFD visualization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and startup collaboration.
• Ability to document design processes clearly.
• Ability to manage design tasks, priorities, and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Analyze aerodynamic data from CFD, wind tunnel, and flight test results.
• Support design and analysis of various test or prototype systems.
• Assist CFD analyses, including geometry preparation, mesh generation, solver execution, and post-processing.
• Support gated design reviews to demonstrate design adequacy.
• Support trade studies to define architectures, requirements, and interfaces between systems.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to gather data and drive informed design decisions.
