Flight Paramedic, Pittsburgh Region, AHN LifeFlight

Highmark Health

General Overview:

Allegheny Health Network's LifeFlight provides regional emergency helicopter and critical care ground transportation services for critically ill and injured patients who need immediate specialized care. LifeFlight is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborates within a multidisciplinary team to establish appropriate plan of care to safely transport acutely ill or injured patients.
  2. Provides advanced critical care life support and medical care according to established standards and protocols for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
  3. Monitors and promotes safety of self and others while working in and around the aircraft/emergency vehicles.
  4. Serves as an AHN ambassador by demonstrating positive professional appearance, language, and conduct at all times in support of AHN and all of its customers.
  5. Participates in quality assurance activities such as chart audits and case reviews.
  6. Completes required documentation according to regulatory standards.
  7. Maintains expected state of transport readiness by maintaining and restocking equipment and supplies.
  8. Ability to pass pre-employment physical exam and meet height and weight requirements.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  1. Certificate from accredited Paramedic program
  2. Current licensure in good standing PA Department of Health paramedic certification
  3. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  5. Flight Paramedic Certification within 1 year
  6. 5 years full-time paramedic experience at a high demand emergency service
  7. CPR – American Heart Association
  8. Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  9. Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  10. Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
