Job summary

North Slope Borough Fire Department seeks a high‑caliber paramedic to serve as the primary air crewmember on medevac and SAR missions, providing advanced emergency care during transport. The role requires maintaining certifications, staying physically fit, and adhering to department SOP/SOG.

Two years of EMS experience and Alaska licensure within 45 days of hire are required; FP-C is preferred and required within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent education.
• Current paramedic licensure and CPR required.
• Two years of pre-hospital EMS experience.
• Flight Paramedic Certification preferred, within one year of hire.
• State paramedic licensure in Alaska within 45 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies and perform fire suppression, rescue and emergency care during air and ground transport.
• Serve as primary air crewmember on medevac and SAR missions.
• Coordinate and provide advanced emergency care of patients during transport.
• Operate emergency life support tools and equipment.
• Maintain licensure, certifications, and fitness as required.
