Job summary

Premier Health Partners' CareFlight Air & Mobile Services seeks a Flight Nurse for part-time days at Miami Valley Hospital. Responsibilities include providing safe air/mobile transport of critically ill patients, delivering advanced emergency care, and supporting public relations and medical education efforts.

Requires RN license in Ohio and 3–5 years of ED/CC experience. Minimum education is Associate's degree with BSN preferred; certifications include BLS/ACLS/PALS, ITLS/PHTLS within 90 days,

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.

• ITLS or PHTLS within 90 days of hire.
• CAMTS nursing certification and EMT-P in Ohio within 2 years.

Responsibilities

Position: Flight Nurse

Department: CareFlight Air & Mobile Services

Shift: Part-time days 7:00am-7:30pm/ 48 Hours Per Pay

The Flight Nurse functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The Flight Nurse utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to provide safe and rapid transport of critically ill or injured patients by air ambulance or mobile intensive care to a higher level medical treatment facility. The Flight Nurse provides advanced emergency/critical care during medical transport and may also provide nursing care for patients throughout Premier Health. This position also include public relations and medical education functions. Flight Nurse is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.

The following certifications are required at the time of hire:

• Current BLS, ACLS and PALS
• Certified EMT-B OR Professional Nursing Certification preferred

The following certifications are required within the specified timeframe following hire:

• 90 Days- ITLS or PHTLS
• 1 year - Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Advanced Trauma Life Support (audit only)
• 2 years - CAMTS approved Nursing certification and Certified EMT-P in the State of Ohio

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: 3 - 5 years of job related experience

Prior job title or occupational experience: N/A

Prior specific functional responsibilities: N/A

Preferred experience: Pre-hospital or critical care transport

Other experience requirements: Minimum of 3 years recent active experience in Emergency Department or Critical Care

Special Consideration: If the candidate has a minimum of one year of previous experience with CareFlight Air & Mobile Services as a Paramedic, they must have an additional 4000 hours critical care experience as an RN in an ICU or an emergency department to be eligible to reapply to the program as an RN. This is in lieu of the above required 3 years' experience.
