Northrop Grumman Space Sector in Goleta, CA is seeking a Flight Inspector – Level 2 to perform high‑precision inspections on spacecraft components. The role is 100% onsite with a 9/80 schedule and Fridays off on alternating weeks.

You will inspect mechanical, electrical, or structural parts using calipers, micrometers, and CMM equipment, ensuring compliance with GD&T and drawing specifications. US citizenship is required, and travel is limited.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related experience
  • Experience using calipers, micrometers, comparators, gages, and other inspection tools
  • Knowledge of GD&T and the ability to read and interpret drawings and specs

Responsibilities

  • Inspect visually and dimensionally in-process and completed products per specifications
  • Perform inspections on spacecraft components including electrical and mechanical parts
  • Use measurement devices to verify conformance and record results
  • Reject, accept, or rework defective units based on inspection results
  • Work from drawings, diagrams, and customer specifications and instructions

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Flight Inspector – Level 2 to join our team in Goleta, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work. The Flight Inspector will perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for spacecraft components and associated systems. This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

  • Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
  • Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components.
  • Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
  • This job has decision‑making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
  • Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub‑assemblies.
  • Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
  • Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start.
  • Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria.
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong Computer skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results.
  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.

Northrop Grumman Total Rewards Primary Level Salary Range: $61,100.00 - $101,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
