Northrop Grumman's Space Sector in Goleta, CA is seeking a Flight Inspector – Level 2 to join our team. This 100% onsite role performs inspections on spacecraft components to ensure conformance with quality requirements and may involve factory testing.

You will work a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off, use calipers, micrometers, and CMMs, read drawings and control plans, and determine accept/reject decisions. U.S. Citizenship is required and no security clearance is needed to start.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years related education/experience.
  • No clearance required to start.
  • Experience using measuring devices (caliper, micrometer, CMM, gages) and GD&T reading of plans/drawings.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect visually, dimensionally, and functionally on mechanical, electrical, or structural spacecraft components.
  • Make acceptance, rejection, or rework decisions on defective units.
  • Follow drawings, customer specs, inspection instructions, and BOMs.
  • Operate measuring devices and coordinate with production to ensure quality requirements.

Description

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Flight Inspector – Level 2 to join our team in Goleta, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The Flight Inspector will perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for spacecraft components and associated systems.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

  • Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
  • Perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional, etc.) on spacecraft components.
  • Uses various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machine.
  • This job has decision-making responsibilities with regards to the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
  • Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of the work in progress.
  • Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
  • Work from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • No clearance required to start
  • Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as caliper, micrometer, comparator, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools
  • Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications and related criteria
  • US Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong Computer skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results
  • Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
  • Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.

Primary Level Salary Range: $61,100.00 - $101,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
