Job summary

Insight Global seeks a Flight Controller Systems Engineer II/III for an advanced spacecraft program in Colorado. You will work with Mission Control on pre-flight preparation and on-orbit operations, developing trajectories, timelines, procedures and operational plans.

You will monitor spacecraft health, support mission execution and make timely decisions during live missions. This onsite 9x80 role is a 6-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years aerospace, mission operations, flight dynamics, or systems engineering experience.
• Experience supporting complex technical systems, spacecraft, aircraft, or operational environments.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to mission planning and flight operations activities.
• MATLAB experience; trajectory design and simulation knowledge.
• STK or FreeFlyer experience; spacecraft/aircraft operations exposure.

Job Description

We are seeking a Flight Controller Systems Engineer II/III to support mission planning, mission design, and real-time flight operations for an advanced spacecraft program. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with Mission Control, supporting both pre-flight mission preparation and on-orbit operations. You will develop mission products including trajectories, timelines, procedures, and operational plans while collaborating closely with software, hardware, vehicle systems, and flight sciences teams. Through a rigorous training and certification program, you will become a certified Flight Controller responsible for monitoring spacecraft health, supporting mission execution, and making time-critical decisions during live missions.

This position is ideal for a highly motivated engineer who is detail-oriented, performs well under pressure, and enjoys solving complex technical problems in a fast-paced operational environment. We are open to recent graduates with strong aerospace fundamentals and a passion for spacecraft, aircraft, or mission operations.

This position is an initial 6-month contract with opportunity to extend. The hourly rate is based on experience, ranging from $38.50-61.50/hr. This is an onsite position, working a 9x80 schedule.

Systems Engineer II

2-5 years of aerospace, mission operations, flight dynamics, or systems engineering experience.

Experience supporting complex technical systems, spacecraft, aircraft, or operational environments.

Ability to work independently and contribute to mission planning and flight operations activities.

Systems Engineer III

5+ years of mission operations, flight dynamics, spacecraft operations, or aerospace engineering experience.

Experience leading mission planning, operational analyses, or real-time mission support.

Ability to mentor junior team members and support flight controller certification activities. MATLAB experience.

STK, FreeFlyer, or other mission analysis tools.

Aerospace, spacecraft, satellite, or aircraft operations experience.

Experience with trajectory design and orbital analysis.

Python, C++, MATLAB, or scripting experience.

Technical writing and procedure development experience.

Knowledge of spacecraft attitude dynamics and Kalman Filters.

Experience developing engineering tools or GUIs.
