Flight Control Laws Engineer / Technical Expert (Remote | ITAR)

Location: United States (Remote)

Job Summary

We are seeking a Technical Expert – Flight Control Laws (CLaws) to lead the design, development, and validation of advanced control laws for Fly-By-Wire (FBW) aircraft systems. This role requires deep expertise in flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and control systems, along with hands‑on experience in control law design, simulation, and certification.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and enhance flight control laws (CLaws) using MATLAB/Simulink and C++
• Support autopilot, navigation, and CLaws development across R&D programs
• Develop and manage CLaws and system-level requirements
• Perform validation & verification (V&V) of control laws (linear and non‑linear)
• Ensure compliance with DO-178B and SAE ARP4754 standards
• Design pilot‑in‑the‑loop control laws based on handling qualities, performance, and safety requirements
• Evaluate system performance, stability, and failure modes using analytical methods and desktop simulations
• Support integration of control laws into hardware platforms (e.g., PFCC systems with Collins, Thales, etc.)

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering (PhD preferred)
• 10+ years of experience in Flight Control Laws development for FBW aircraft
• Strong expertise in aircraft flight dynamics and aerodynamics; classical & modern control systems (SISO/MIMO); advanced control law design techniques
• Solid understanding of aircraft stability, handling qualities, pilot‑in‑the‑loop systems, control law evaluation (linear & non‑linear), certification and compliance processes

Technical Skills

• DO-178B (software certification)
• Functional testing

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with advanced flight control architectures
• Prior involvement in flight test programs and system integration
• Exposure to avionics suppliers (Collins, Thales, etc.)

Work Model

• 100% Remote (U.S.-based candidates only)

Pay Range – Minimum: $50 per hour; Maximum: $75 per hour.
