Job summary

Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) in State College, PA is seeking a Dynamics and Controls Engineer to join the Vehicle Control and Dynamics Department. The role develops flight control system requirements, creates 6DoF models, and runs Software-in-Loop simulations in Matlab/Simulink.

You will design and validate flight control algorithms and Strapdown Inertial Navigation System methods, support tests, and document results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science is required.
• Experience with Matlab/Simulink-based software is expected.
• Experience with network/serial communications and version control.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze flight control system requirements and 6DoF models.
• Design, tune, and validate flight control algorithms and SIL tests.
• Update Strapdown Inertial Navigation System algorithms and modeling.
• Develop, debug, and test Matlab/Simulink-based software and data analysis tools.
• Support lab and field test planning, execution, and data analysis.
• Collaborate and share knowledge with team members.
