Description

We do not require special schooling or a college degree for this job and you will be fully trained by United.

Starting hourly flight pay of $28.88/hour with top of base scale at $67.11/hour: Seniority-based pay increases and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Outstanding training: To start your career, you will begin with 6.5 weeks of training in Houston, TX learning United safety and customer service standards. Following successful completion, you will be assigned to one of our hubs—Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or other bases (relocation funds not provided). United provides a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch during training.

Qualifications and Requirements include:
  • 21 years of age or older at application
  • High school diploma or GED; 2+ years of college preferred
  • At least one year of customer service experience in retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, or social services
  • Clear, organized communication; loud enough for emergencies
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Fluent in German (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Ability to hear all sound ranges
  • Ability to communicate effectively during high-stress situations
  • Professional appearance and grooming; willing to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
  • Operate electronic devices proficiently
  • Valid passport with at least 18 months remaining, in good condition
  • No travel restrictions to United's destinations
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, lift heavy objects, and push/pull up to 250 lbs.
  • Pass a functional reach assessment
  • Sit in an aircraft jump seat with seatbelt and harness
  • Serve and sell food, beverages, including alcohol, professionally
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays
Onboarding and Training Expectations
  • Complete an in-water evacuation drill during training
  • Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening, background checks, fingerprinting, vision/hearing tests
  • Pass DOT/FAA drug screens (no recreational or medical marijuana)
  • Pass a 10-year background check; must not have disqualifying criminal history (e.g., recent DWI/DUI affecting travel to Canada)
