Job summary

AWT Labels & Packaging operates flexographic presses on the 2nd shift, 12-hour days from 4:20 pm to 4:40 am, with a 36-hour week paid for 40. Set-up, run, and clean presses to meet customer specs while maintaining a safe, clean work environment. General duties include adhering to ISO SOPs, ink handling, color matching, and teamwork to ensure quality products.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational training preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years flexo press experience.
  • Ability to read and understand job tickets.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Fluent in English; good communication.

Responsibilities

  • Follow ISO SOPs as trained.
  • Follow daily press schedule.
  • Ensure paperwork is complete and accurate.
  • Maintain color and registration within specifications.
  • Prepare and complete setup through cleanup for each job.
  • Be mindful of waste and optimize time/material usage.
  • Perform preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Notify supervisor of inconsistencies and communicate professionally.

2nd shift Press Operator. Work schedule is Wednesday, Thursday, Friday - 12 hour days. Hours are 4:20 pm - 4:40 am. Work 36 hours get paid for 40. Additional days and hours may be necessary to meet the needs of our customers. $1.00 Shift differential applies.

General Description of Job

Set-up, operate and clean-up flexographic printing and converting presses, producing a product that meets our customers needs while maintaining a clean, safe working environment.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Follow ISO SOP’s as trained
  • Follow daily press schedule
  • Ensure that all required paperwork is complete and accurate
  • Colors and registration per specifications within tolerance
  • Ensure that all components for producing product are at press to ensure job is completely ready to Produce from set-up through clean-up
  • Conscious of waste through operation (time and material)
  • Good working knowledge of inks and pH./viscosity levels
  • Output meets customer specification
  • Product is neatly stacked off press
  • Good and bad product is clearly marked
  • Well planned out set-ups and changeovers
  • For clean-up ensures that all ink is removed from shafts of doctor roll and anilox
  • Anilox rolls cleaned to prevent plugging of cells
  • All ink cleaned from press and surrounding area when possible
  • Base rolls kept clean for each job – no tape or debris remaining; gears cleaned as needed
  • Performs preventative maintenance as needed
  • Notifies supervisor of any inconsistencies with finished product, information, or trouble shooting
  • Courteous with support help;
  • Participates in the quality and process improvement process
  • Willing to help in other areas of the shop as the need arises
  • Detailed change over with next shift

Physical Job Demands

Able to be on feet for long periods of time; able to lift 50 lbs. or more without restrictions.

Education and Experience Requirements
