Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Plate Preparation Operator to ensure Flexographic plate preparation for on-press runs. You will set up plate material on mounting machines, clean and laminate plates, and mount them onto belt material to run on the Flexographic press.

You will trim plates to maintain production quality, clean and maintain equipment, and assist the press operator with adjustments while following safety procedures and documenting job details.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or G.E.D.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to maintain good attendance.
• Must be willing to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods.
• Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Set up plate material on mounting machine using coordinates.
• Clean and laminate plate material.
• Mount plate material onto belt material to be able to run on Flexographic press.
• Properly prepare and trim plates to adjust and maintain quality of production.
• Cleans and maintains mounting equipment and general areas.
• Removes and mounts plates when needed.
• Oversee the production schedule to determine what jobs need to be mounted.
• Assist the press operator with any adjustments needed for the jobs on the press.
• Complies with safety procedures and policies.
• Complete required job documentation.
• Perform plate inspections to ensure quality and continued use of plates.
• Removes waste from the mounting area.
• Work with other departments and maintenance on projects.
