Job summary

Fortis Solutions Group in Ohio is seeking a Setup Technician to support flexo press operators in the print production environment. You will mount plates, pull dies, stage inks, clean press parts, and assist with job setup as time allows.

You will learn press operation and cover breaks, coordinate with Ink Technician and Warehouse for ink and paper, and help keep supplies available. The role emphasizes safety, organization, and proactive problem solving in a fast-paced production setting.

Qualifications

• Must be mechanically inclined to grasp press setup and operation.
• Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to read work tickets and interpret information for supplies.
• Ability to do basic math and measurements.
• Proactive and detail oriented to catch problems and notify management.
• Be careful and respectful of high dollar press tooling.
• Good organization skills to manage multiple labels daily.

Responsibilities

• Review daily schedule and gather required press plates, dies, doctor blades, and cylinders per the ticket specification.
• Utilize the press staging cart to stay one job ahead on each press, with items like job jacket, plates, and mag dies.
• Assist the press operator by installing cylinders, doctor blades, and mag dies onto the press for efficient setup.
• Assist press operator during job runs with troubleshooting, cleaning and remounting press plates, and refilling inks as necessary.
• Learn press operation to fill in for breaks and time off.
• Communicate with Ink Technician and Warehouse Material Handler to ensure ink and paper are provided during long runs.
• Maintain supplies and follow Kanban for high usage items; keep work area clean and safe.
