Job summary

Lifetime Assistance, Inc. in Rochester, NY seeks a Part-Time Wheelchair Van Driver to support our Transportation team. This flexible, as-needed role offers no mandatory weekly hour minimums, with shifts capped around 30 hours max.

You will safely operate agency vehicles on assigned routes, assist passengers boarding and securing mobility devices, maintain trip records, and participate in bi-monthly meetings. A valid NYS license and willingness to pass background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of professional driving experience.
• Valid NYS driver’s license; CDL not required but a plus.
• Ability to lift/move up to 35 pounds.
• Must pass all required background checks and clearances.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate agency vehicles on assigned routes while adhering to traffic laws and agency policies.
• Conduct and document pre-trip inspections; report any maintenance or safety concerns.
• Ensure vehicles are fueled, clean, and properly equipped with safety tools.
• Assist individuals with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility devices (e.g., wheelchairs).
• Provide a comfortable, respectful, and supportive environment for all passengers.
• Maintain accurate records, including attendance, trip logs, and incident reports.
• Communicate effectively with program participants, staff, caregivers, and families.
