Job summary

Griffin Spalding County Schools is seeking dependable individuals to join the Child Nutrition Program as Substitute Workers. This on-call role supports cafeteria operations across the district, ensuring nutritious and safe meals for students.

You will work with regular nutrition staff under the supervision of the Child Nutrition Program Supervisor. Ideal candidates are punctual, flexible, and ready to report to various school sites on short notice.

Qualifications

• Completion of Griffin Spalding Employee Handbook acknowledgment.
• Successful completion of a Georgia Gemalto Background Check.
• Ability to lift heavy objects up to 65 lbs.
• Ability to work on an on-call, as-needed basis with a flexible and adaptable schedule.
• Demonstrated punctuality, professionalism, and a well-maintained professional appearance.
• Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards in a school or commercial kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, serve, and distribute food and beverages in compliance with nutritional rules of NSLP, NSFB, and After School programs.
• Maintain food prep, service and storage areas in a sanitary condition by cleaning equipment and surfaces.
• Operate foodservice equipment safely and report malfunctions to supervisor.
• Serve as cashier when assigned, including collecting payments and balancing cash registers.
• Conduct inventory to ensure item availability and verify quantities against health standards.
• Interact positively with students, staff, and public to create a welcoming dining environment.
• Perform daily cleaning, stocking duties, and maintain dining area furnishings.
• Participate in approved professional development activities.
• Support school cafeteria operations across the district when needed and report to supervisor.
