Job summary

TX-STAR is seeking certified Special Education Substitute Teachers to provide substitute teaching services for public, charter, and private schools throughout San Antonio and surrounding communities. Substitute Teachers may select assignments based on their availability, experience, preferred grade levels, program settings, and geographic preferences.

Qualifications

• Hold a current and valid Texas teaching certificate and a Special Education certification/endorsement.
• Maintain educator certification in good standing and be eligible to work in Texas public schools.
• Complete fingerprinting and background checks as required.
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
• Follow lesson plans and support diverse learners with appropriate accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Follow lesson plans and IEP requirements, and implement accommodations or modifications.
• Deliver instruction aligned with curriculum and learning objectives.
• Provide individualized and small-group instruction for students receiving special education services.
• Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe learning environment.
• Take attendance and complete classroom documentation as required.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and administrators.
