Job summary

Three Rivers Elementary in Pasco, Washington is seeking a Special Education Substitute Paraeducator to support students with disabilities. The role involves on-call instructional and behavioral support, one-on-one or small-group instruction, and collaboration with teachers to maintain a safe, inclusive classroom.

Duties include preparing materials, assisting with daily activities, and supervising students during arrivals, transitions, and bus routes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior paraeducator experience or on-the-job training preferred but not required.
• Experience with students with special needs preferred but not required.
• Valid First aid and/or CPR certification is preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Prior experience in a K-12 school setting preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in various classrooms including Life Skills, Structured Learning Classes, Self-Contained, Resource Room, Extended Resource Room and/or any Specialized Program.
• Administer first aid to provide emergency care.
• Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction.
• Assist with classroom management and with preparing materials for lessons.
• Supervise during student arrival and departure, including crosswalk duty and bus transitions.
• Assist with reporting misconduct on school property and/or bus routes.
• Assist with setting up and supervising activities and light cleaning.
• Support administering tests and evaluating student progress as directed by teachers.
• Maintain accurate student records in the district's information systems.
• Provide assistance with diapering, feeding, toileting, and other personal needs as required.
• Participate in district meetings to communicate information and gain feedback.
• Supervise students to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
