Job summary

Lunchtime Solutions is seeking a dependable Substitute Kitchen Helper to support our school food service program on an as-needed basis at Janesville Waldorf School District. This flexible role allows you to step in when regular staff are absent, assisting with food preparation, serving students, and keeping the kitchen organized.

You’ll adapt to different locations, follow recipes and health-safety guidelines, communicate supply needs, and help with prep lists and clean-up.

Qualifications

• Flexibility to work on an as-needed basis at multiple school locations.
• Strong communication and ability to work independently or with a team.
• Ability to follow recipes and measure ingredients for large batches.
• Dependability and commitment to customer service.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Fill in at school kitchens when team members are out to ensure meal service continues.
• Help prep and serve menu items, keep station stocked, follow serving-size guidelines.
• Follow simple recipes and maintain kitchen, storage areas, and equipment using FIFO.
• Maintain food safety, complete basic logs, and assist with production records.
• Communicate supply needs, feedback, and updates to team and supervisors.
• Stock and serve items during meal service and help with prep lists and freezer pulls.
• Adapt to different school locations, teams, and kitchen environments as needed.
• Assist when someone is out, help train new team members as needed.
