Job summary

Emporia Rehabilitation And Healthcare Center in Emporia, VA, is seeking a Speech Therapist (SLP) to join our long‑term care team. You will provide evaluations, develop treatment plans and work with an interdisciplinary team to support residents.

Qualified candidates hold an ASHA‑recognized MA/MS in communication disorders, current state licensure, and CFY completion. We offer competitive wages, a flexible schedule, PTO, and company perks and activities.

Qualifications

• Must have ASHA-recognized MA or MS in communication disorders.
• Current state licensure and/or registration as applicable.
• Successful completion of CFY.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive speech therapy evaluations as per MD orders.
• Document findings on standardized evaluation formats accurately.
• Create a comprehensive treatment plan with goals, frequency, duration, and modalities.
• Ensure MD orders are obtained for evaluations, treatments, recertifications and discharges.
• Provide treatment using modalities and adjust as indicated with appropriate precautions.
• Document patient progress in approved formats in a timely manner.
• Update treatment plans monthly in standardized format.
• Document discharge and in-service activities as indicated.
• Record caregiver or discharge in-services as required.
• Complete all other documentation required by the Facility.
• Document care plans and info needed for MDS as needed.
• Attend facility and rehab meetings as directed.
• Participate in facility committee meetings as indicated.
• Act as rehab delegate to the interdisciplinary team.
• Assist with scheduling of patients.
• Perform screens as indicated.
• Bill for speech therapy services ethically and accurately.
• Cover other therapists’ patient caseload during absences as necessary.
• Supervise junior staff or students per state/federal guidelines; co-sign CFYs’ notes.
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, patients and families.
• Provide in-service education to rehab staff and community as needed.
• Comply with facility policies, safety guidelines, HIPAA and confidentiality.
• Report to work on time and project a professional image.
• Adhere to productivity requirements and timely reporting.
• Comply with HR policies (lunch, overtime, time off).
• Maintain a positive work atmosphere and foster good relations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or Regional Manager.
• Adhere to all facility systems and operations.
