Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nursing assessments based on interview, examination, observation and records.
• Ensure patient progress is reflected in progress notes and revised care plans.
• Discharge planning consistent with patient status and inter-departmental communication.
• Communicate information to patients based on learning readiness.
• Support orientation of new staff as preceptor and role model.
• Mentor students and volunteers as a professional role model.
• Coordinate patient care assignments considering needs and staff skill levels.
• Organize provision of care to meet priority patient needs and unit demands.
• Communicate patient conditions to leadership in relevant disciplines.
• Participate in development of other staff members.
• Communicate with peers to appraise practice.
• Reflect collaborative efforts to meet patient and unit needs.
• Provide direction, assistance and support.
• Assume accountability for completion and quality of tasks.
• Identify need for staff education to supervisor.
• Engage with nursing leadership and role models.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to meet patient needs.
• Mirror the department's philosophy and goals in family and group interactions.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

RN Licensure (New York or eligible)

1 year RN ED experience preferred
