Job summary

New London Community School District is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school environment. The role supports students and staff by performing routine cleaning, minor maintenance, and setup for events.

The position offers up to 20 hours per week with flexible scheduling and requires the ability to work independently, follow safety procedures, and communicate effectively with staff. Background screening is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Custodial experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift and perform physical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, dust, mop, scrub, and vacuum floors and other surfaces.
• Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Clean windows, doors, furniture, fixtures, and other building surfaces as needed.
• Restock restroom and custodial supplies.
• Keep custodial closets, storage areas, and equipment clean and organized.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic upkeep of school facilities and some maintenance tasks.
• Assist with setting up and taking down furniture and equipment for school activities and events.
• Assist with unloading or transporting supplies, driving a truck or van, moving furniture, and setting up cafeteria tables.
• Help maintain entrances, sidewalks, and other areas around the school as assigned.
• Report maintenance, safety, or repair concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Safely operate and maintain custodial equipment and cleaning tools.
