Job summary

SLA is seeking a Food Service Worker to help prepare and serve meals to students and staff in a safe, clean, and friendly environment. You will support daily cafeteria operations, handle food preparation, serving, and cleanliness while following safety standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a willingness to follow routines in a school setting; you may assist with deliveries, inventory, and occasional events. A background check is required.

Qualifications

• Previous food service or cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to work well with others and maintain a strong work ethic.
• Comfortable with repetitive tasks and following routines.
• Basic math and computer skills for reporting and inventory.
• Must pass a background check and fingerprint screening.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to work in a school setting.
• Enjoys working around children and being part of a school community.
• Professional, respectful, and inclusive with coworkers and customers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food according to recipes, production records, and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, safe kitchen and service area.
• Stock serving lines, salad bars, and milk coolers.
• Follow proper procedures for food storage, rotation, and sanitation.
• Serve meals to students, staff, and visitors in a courteous manner.
• Assist with putting away deliveries and organizing inventory.
• Sweep, mop, and take out trash as needed.
• Follow all local, state, federal, and company health regulations.
• Step in to assist team members or cover shifts as needed.
• Submit reports and meet deadlines as assigned.
• Carry out any additional duties to support the kitchen team and school meal program.
