Job summary

Home of Guiding Hands in Chula Vista is seeking a compassionate Respite Caregiver for flexible part-time work supporting individuals with disabilities at home or in the community.

You will provide companionship, assist with daily living tasks, attend appointments, and help develop life skills while ensuring safety and engagement.

Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and ability to pass a DOJ background check are valued; CPR/First Aid certification is preferred or available.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• At least 6 months of caregiving experience in a paid, volunteer, or personal setting.
• Must be able to pass a DOJ background check.
• Reliable transportation.
• Ability to use a smartphone or internet-enabled device for timekeeping and documentation.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to become certified.

Responsibilities

• Provide companionship, care, and supervision.
• Go to the park, zoo, or other community activities.
• Help with homework, crafts, games, or other activities.
• Teach everyday life skills such as cooking and laundry.
• Assist with personal care and daily living needs.
• Attend appointments such as physical, occupational, or speech therapy.
• Support communication and help manage challenging behaviors.
