Job summary

Allied Community Care in Glen Dale, MD is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in home and community settings. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling and the chance to help people live more independently.

You will work with clients to assist with daily living activities, encourage social engagement, and document progress and incidents.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Ability to pass a background check.
Reliable transportation to travel to client homes and community activities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Flexibility to adapt to diverse needs and preferences.
Willingness to assist with personal care and follow detailed support plans.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care and support to individuals in their homes and in the community.
Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, light household tasks, and basic skill-building support.
Encourage social engagement and community integration by supporting clients in activities such as shopping, going to the park, attending events, or participating in hobbies.
Follow and implement individualized support plans and goals tailored to each person’s needs.
Maintain accurate documentation of daily activities, progress notes, and any incidents, including seizures or other health-related events.
