Job summary

Distinctive Schools is seeking an On-Call Subsitute Teacher to join multiple campuses in Chicago. Start date is September 2026, with a pay rate starting at $20.00 per hour, based on experience. The position is on-call/part-time (up to 29 hours weekly) and reports to the Principal.

Responsibilities include delivering specified content in the absence of the classroom teacher, maintaining a safe learning environment, and following campus procedures and schedules across Distinctive School campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Substitute Teaching License in ISBE required.
• Familiar with cloud-based Google Suite and able to learn digital tools as needed.

Responsibilities

• Teach scheduled classes.
• Implement lesson plans, routines, and expectations set forth by the classroom teacher.
• Develop and maintain a positive learning environment.
• Implement effective management procedures and routines.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information, grades, and school personnel.
• Follow campus procedures and schedules.
• Promote proper use and care of materials and school property.
• Provide impromptu lesson plan or activity as needed.
• Assist students with coursework towards mastery.
• Adapt instructional approach to meet individual needs.
