Job summary

Durham Academy, Incorporated is seeking an On-Call School Bus Driver in Durham, NC. This part-time role provides flexible coverage for daily routes, athletic events, field trips, and special activities across all school levels.

Qualifications

• Valid NC CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Clean driving record and ability to meet NC DMV and school transportation requirements.
• Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and medical certification.
• Prior experience driving a school bus or commercial passenger vehicle preferred.
• Willingness to work early mornings, afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, athletic events, field trips, and other school activities.
• Operate school buses in compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation laws and regulations.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report safety or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain order and ensure appropriate student behavior while on the bus per school policies.
• Adhere to assigned schedules, routes, and transportation procedures; communicate clearly with students, families, faculty, and staff.
• Maintain accurate transportation records as required by Durham Academy.
