Job summary

Cribs2Crayons Early Learning & Resource Center is seeking dependable Substitute Childcare Teachers to provide essential classroom coverage and support across age groups in Waterloo, IA. The role emphasizes flexibility, reliability, and caring supervision to maintain a safe, nurturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous childcare experience preferred but not required.
• Must meet applicable Iowa childcare employment requirements.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and mandatory training.
• Ability to work with children of various ages, including infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to follow directions and adapt to different classroom environments.
• Must be reliable, punctual, patient, and professional.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to accept assignments with varying schedules and advance notice.

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom coverage during staff absences, scheduled time off, and staffing shortages.
• Supervise children and maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.
• Assist with daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions.
• Follow established lesson plans, classroom schedules, and center procedures.
• Support children with meals, snacks, diaper changes, toileting, and rest periods.
• Maintain proper supervision and required staff-to-child ratios.
• Assist with classroom cleaning, sanitizing, and organization.
• Communicate effectively with classroom staff, supervisors, and management.
• Follow all center policies, safety procedures, and applicable Iowa childcare regulations.
• Adapt to different classroom assignments and age groups as needed.
• Demonstrate professionalism, dependability, flexibility, and teamwork.
