Job summary

77 consultants is seeking a Locum Gastroenterologist to provide high-quality gastroenterology care within a medical practice setting in Virginia. You will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with GI and hepatic conditions, collaborating with the clinical team and delivering patient-centered care.

This associate-level contract is ideal for physicians seeking flexible engagement while maintaining a strong clinical focus.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in the applicable state, or eligibility to obtain one.
• DEA registration and other required credentialing documentation.
• Prior clinical experience in gastroenterology, including outpatient and/or inpatient care.
• Proficiency in endoscopic procedures and interpretation of diagnostic studies.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and diagnose patients presenting with gastrointestinal and liver-related conditions.
• Perform and interpret endoscopic and diagnostic procedures as required.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients.
• Manage chronic gastroenterology conditions, including IBD, GERD, and hepatic disorders.
• Coordinate care with primary care physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health record.
• Ensure adherence to clinical guidelines, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up plans clearly to patients and families.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical case reviews.
• Support continuity of care during coverage periods for the practice.
