Job summary

YMCA of Greater Charlotte is seeking a part-time Group Fitness Instructor to lead engaging group fitness classes at our Charlotte branch. You will design safe routines, maintain attendance targets, and teach multiple weekly sessions, including substitutions when needed.

Certification in ACE or AEA is required, with a strong emphasis on member engagement and safety. The role supports the Y's mission and involves community outreach, staff collaboration, and ongoing training to ensure high-quality

Qualifications

ACE or AEA certification required or equivalent.
10+ years (1000+ hours) of teaching experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Reliable, self-motivated and able to work flexible hours.
Outgoing personality with strong customer service.
Professional demeanor and commitment to quality service.
Willing to adapt to branch needs and schedules.

Responsibilities

Design and prepare class routines meeting safety guidelines and exercise physiology standards.
Engage members before/after classes to build relationships.
Record attendance and meet 80% target attendance with growth.
Teach minimum 2 classes per week (8/month), with substitute coverage when needed.
Start and end class on time and keep equipment and area clean.
Participate in outreach campaigns and branch emergencies, attend staff meetings.
Pursue continuing education aligned with goals and branch objectives.
