Job summary

South Shore YMCA in Hanover, MA is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support planning, execution and operation of an early-learning classroom. This role promotes YMCA values and encourages lifelong learning for ages 6 weeks to 5+ years.

The position offers part-time hours within 7:00 AM–5:30 PM, at $17.00–$19.00 per hour, with benefits including YMCA sick time accrual, a complimentary individual membership, and program discounts. Prior child experience is preferred; background check required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate.
• Experience working with children is preferred.
• Must pass EEC background check including fingerprinting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and executing early-learning programs in line with MA frameworks.
• Support families and members; foster a supportive YMCA community.
• Help keep facilities safe, clean, and well maintained; supervise volunteers.
• Support fundraising activities and community partnerships.
