Job summary

Skyview High School in Vancouver, Washington seeks an Assistant Cheer Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. The coach will develop a program emphasizing character, recruit athletes, and run practices that teach proper technique and team spirit while aligning with school policies.

The role requires strong communication, organizational and leadership skills, and adherence to WIAA guidelines; evenings and seasonal travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Recent coaching experience, with K-12 athletes preferred.
• Current First Aid and CPR card, or ability to obtain prior to the start date.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience demonstrating organizational skills.
• Experience working with students and families from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and articulate a vision for the program emphasizing character and a positive experience for all athletes.
• Recruit student athletes for participation at Skyview High School.
• Conduct practices focusing on proper technique and mechanics of cheer.
• Attend and supervise games and execute game strategy.
• Teach and model sportsmanship to athletes, parents, and the school community.
• Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions.
• Adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies.
• Complete required trainings around sport-specific rules and safety.
• Maintain and inventory uniforms and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community.
• Work as a team player following the Head Coach and Athletic Director’s guidance.
• Attend Coaches Institute training in August.
