Job summary

Riverside Health in Newport News, VA seeks a dedicated Nursing Assistant/Care Aide to support RNs and patients, performing basic procedures such as wound care, EKGs, venipuncture, and splinting under supervision while maintaining patient safety.

Responsibilities include accurate EMR data entry, following care plans, documenting per RHS standards, and assisting with admissions, discharges, or transfers as directed by the charge nurse; dependability and caring behavior are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (Preferred).
• 1 year Prior health care experience in hospital setting (Preferred).
• CPR/BLS Certification required; waivers allowed for EMT-B/MA variants per policy.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.
• Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include vital signs, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.
• Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes; maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment.
• Demonstrates the ability to be able to take direction from the charge nurse to help admit, discharge, or transfer patients in a timely and efficient manner.
