Job summary

VCU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide direct, age‑specific care under physician guidance across clinics in the Tappahannock region. The float pool supports family medicine, pediatrics and specialty services, with assignments assigned two weeks in advance and possible day‑of changes.

Qualified candidates hold a national CMA certification and current BLS, with 1 year of relevant experience if not recent graduate; strong organizational and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified Medical Assistant with a national certification required.
• 1 year of medical assistant experience if not a graduate of a CMA program.
• Experience using a PC and Microsoft Office/email applications.
• Strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, age-specific patient care under supervision of a licensed practitioner.
• Functions under the direction of a physician, nurse manager, or RN and clinic policy.
• Handle medications and related supplies as part of patient care.
• Use computer systems and software for patient records and communication as required.
