Job description

$125/hour | 30–40 hours per week | Fully remote | 12-week contract engagement

We’re recruiting experienced legal professionals to help evaluate and improve advanced AI systems. You’ll translate your real-world legal experience into challenging tasks, assess AI-generated legal work, and establish clear standards for what an accurate, well-reasoned response should contain. This is not a client-facing legal role. There is no representation, court work, or business-development requirement. The work is independent, writing-intensive, and highly detail-oriented.

What You’ll Do
  • Design sophisticated legal tasks based on realistic professional scenarios, including prompts, fact patterns, and supporting documents.
  • Develop detailed grading rubrics that distinguish excellent legal analysis from responses containing factual, reasoning, or judgment errors.
  • Evaluate and rank AI-generated work for legal accuracy, clarity, completeness, professional appropriateness, and use of relevant authorities.
  • Write exemplary legal analyses and corrective explanations that are clear, precise, thoroughly reasoned, and grounded in appropriate sources.
  • Test tasks against AI models, identify subtle failure modes, and revise your work in response to expert feedback and detailed project instructions.
Who Will Excel in This Role

The strongest candidates are hands-on legal practitioners who currently perform or recently performed detailed legal work themselves. You may come from litigation, corporate or transactional practice, contracts, compliance, regulatory work, intellectual property, in-house legal, or legal operations.

You should be:
  • An excellent analytical writer who can explain complex legal issues with precision.
  • Exceptionally attentive to facts, dates, authorities, instructions, and formatting requirements.
  • Comfortable reviewing work line by line and detecting subtle but consequential errors.
  • Receptive to feedback and willing to revise work through multiple review cycles.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and working independently in a remote environment.
  • Available for 30–40 hours per week throughout the full 12-week engagement.
Paid Assessment

Candidates must complete a paid, 3–4-hour legal skills assessment before being selected for the engagement. The assessment pays a $240 flat fee, regardless of the final hiring decision. It evaluates legal expertise, analytical writing, judgment, and careful instruction-following. All answers must reflect the candidate’s own work; AI or LLM assistance is not permitted during the assessment. Passing the assessment is required to join the project.
