Flex Officer Explanation

The Flex Officer position is crucial to our company’s operational and financial success. The flex officer provides trained support by working shifts that become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This enables Sunstates to provide continual, uninterrupted service to our customers while protecting the health and work balance of our personnel.

Scheduling Expectations

The scheduling parameters and expectations for a Flex Officer differ from those of an employee assigned to a fixed post. As a Flex Officer:

• You will be trained at various posts and/or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks, this will not be a permanent assignment.
• Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational needs.
• You will be assigned or offered shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
• Some shifts will be scheduled in advance; others may be called on short notice to cover staffing shortages.
• You are expected to work any scheduled shift within your availability. If you are unavailable for a scheduled shift, you must communicate this with your supervisor.

For short-notice call-ins, you are expected to work at least 80% of the shifts you are called for. Refusing more than 20% of shifts may impact your employment status.

Job Duties

A Security Officer may perform duties as specified by Post Orders and SOPs. You must read and become knowledgeable of these directives to act quickly and efficiently.

Education Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent.
