Job summary

Avera St Mary's Hospital is seeking a radiologic technologist to operate radiographic and CT equipment and produce clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.

Responsibilities include performing radiology procedures, ensuring accurate data for interpretation, and utilizing PACS/RIS/HIS EMR systems. The role requires ARRT certification within 60 days and an associates degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology. Commitment to safety, accuracy, and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's or certificate of completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
• ARRT Certification must be obtained within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs radiology procedures accurately and in accordance with standards and protocols.
• Initiates appropriate intervention to radiologist or referrer when an exam requires immediate attention.
• Reviews indications for exams and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides complete exam data for interpretation by reading radiologist.
• Utilizes PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for permanent storage and sends images to radiologist group.
• Demonstrates understanding of medical and legal implications related to imaging reports to protect patient and organization.
• Maintains department policies, safety, infection control, and quality objectives.
• Assists/mentors staff and students with training and orientation.
• Supports data collection and records maintenance per department standards.

A Brief Overview

Accountable for the proficient operations of the radiographic and CT equipment to provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.

What you will do

• Performs various radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.
• Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
• Reviews appropriate indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.
• Utilizes computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group. Retrieves stored images form PACS or disc back-up and make CDs successfully.
• Demonstrates an understanding of medical and legal implications and responsibilities related to the imagine reports and images to protect the patient and the organization.
• Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, and environment and infection control.
• Assists/mentors staff/student with on the job training, clinical rotations and orientation.
• Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the facility or law.
