Job summary

Avera St Mary's Hospital is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to proficiently operate radiographic and CT equipment and produce clinically diagnostic images under physician direction.

You will perform a range of radiology procedures, initiate timely radiologist interventions, and ensure accurate exam data with full use of PACS, RIS, and EMR systems, while supporting confidentiality and safety standards. This role includes mentoring staff and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to perform radiologic procedures accurately and efficiently.
• Knowledge of PACS/RIS/HIS EMR systems and related clerical duties.
• Strong communication and attention to detail to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Performs various radiology procedures accurately and per standards.
• Initiates intervention to Radiologist or referring practitioner when immediate attention is needed.
• Reviews indications for exams and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete, accurate format for radiologist interpretation.
• Utilizes PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data and sends images to radiologist group; retrieves stored images as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to safety, quality, and infection control standards.
• Mentors staff and students with on-the-job training and orientations.
• Supports data collection and maintenance for regulatory compliance and records.

A Brief Overview

Accountable for the proficient operations of the radiographic and CT equipment to provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.

What You Will Do

• Performs various radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.
• Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
• Reviews appropriate indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.
• Utilizes computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group. Retrieves stored images form PACS or disc back-up and make CDs successfully.
• Demonstrates an understanding of medical and legal implications and responsibilities related to the imagine reports and images to protect the patient and the organization.
• Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, and environment and infection control.
• Assists/mentors staff/student with on the job training, clinical rotations and orientation.
• Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the facility or law.

Required Education, License/Certification, Or Work Experience

• Associate's or certificate of completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• ARRT Certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 Days
