UPMC is seeking a Flex Full-Time Medical Assistant for our OB/GYN Associates of Pittsburgh in Wexford, PA. This practice provides gynecologic and obstetric care, including routine visits, contraception counseling, surgical procedures, and pregnancy care.

This position offers a flexible schedule of 28-40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during daylight hours, with no evenings, weekends, or holidays required. Responsibilities include both back office and front office duties. Previous Medical Assistant experience is preferred.

Applicants will be placed in the appropriate role and salary based on experience and education within the Medical Assistant Career Ladder.

Responsibilities:

  1. Manage patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA and other regulations.
  2. Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referrals, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and manage patient charts.
  3. Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, maintain infection control, and manage supplies.
  4. Organize patient flow, assist patients with transfers and preparations, and collect vital signs and patient histories.
  5. Answer calls, provide patient education, and relay instructions.
  6. Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and assist with procedures, documenting information accordingly.
  7. Comply with OSHA, CLIA, and state regulations, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to policies.
  8. Under supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology and clinical responsibilities.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR certification (AHA standards) within 30 days of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting (renewal required).
  • Act 33 and Act 34 clearances (renewal required).
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance (renewal required).
