Job summary

Avera St Mary's Hospital in Omaha, NE is seeking a PRN Radiologic Technologist to operate radiographic and CT equipment and provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians. This role requires attention to safety, record-keeping, and teamwork within a multidisciplinary department.

You will perform radiology procedures, review indications, and ensure data is complete for interpretation while using PACS, RIS, and HIS/EMR systems.

Qualifications

• Associate's or certificate of completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
• ARRT Certification - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 60 Days

Responsibilities

• Performs radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and per standards.
• Initiates proper intervention to radiologist when immediate attention is needed.
• Reviews indications for exams and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete/accurate format for reading radiologist interpretation.
• Utilizes PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for storage and sends images to radiologist group; retrieves stored images as needed.
• Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to safety and compliance standards.
• Mentors staff/students and assists with training and orientation.

A Brief Overview

Accountable for the proficient operations of the radiographic and CT equipment to provide clinically diagnostic images as directed by physicians.

What you will do

• Performs various radiology procedures accurately, efficiently and according to established standards and protocols.
• Initiates proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention.
• Reviews appropriate indications for exams ordered and reports inappropriate indications to supervisor.
• Provides exam data in a complete and accurate format for presentation to reading radiologist for interpretation.
• Utilizes computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and performs general clerical duties.
• Archives image data for permanent storage and appropriately sends images to radiologist group. Retrieves stored images form PACS or disc back-up and make CDs successfully.
• Demonstrates an understanding of medical and legal implications and responsibilities related to the imagine reports and images to protect the patient and the organization.
• Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, and environment and infection control.
• Assists/mentors staff/student with on the job training, clinical rotations and orientation.
• Assists with analysis, collection and maintenance of records as required by department manager, Quality Improvement, Joint Commission, MDH, ACR standards, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the facility or law.
