Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Vehicle Mechanic to diagnose, analyze, and troubleshoot malfunctions in government and other fleet vehicles. You will perform maintenance, repairs and inspections, and drive safety and reliability in service teams at Red River Army Depot.

Responsibilities include diagnosing issues with mechanical and electrical systems, performing engine tune-ups, and ensuring accurate maintenance documentation. The role requires shift flexibility and a commitment to safety standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3 years minimum experience diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of automotive equipment.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance for gasoline and diesel vehicles.
  • Strong safety knowledge for motor vehicle systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of vehicle operating systems and diagnostics.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools and test equipment.
  • Ability to read manuals and maintain maintenance logs.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, power tools, and jacks.
  • Ability to complete vehicle maintenance paperwork.
  • Strong hand tool and hydraulic skills.
  • Must obtain facility credentials; US citizenship may be required for access.
  • Pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Available for all shifts; weekends may be required.
  • Proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and repairing government vehicles.
  • Completing maintenance tickets and repair orders promptly.
  • Dispose of waste materials per regulations.
  • Stay updated on new technology and procedures.
  • Diagnose and isolate malfunctions; determine repairs.
  • Repair vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and reliability.
  • Repair lighting, sirens, radiators, HVAC, and other systems.
  • Use on-board diagnostics to test and analyze systems.
  • Inform customers about status and needed repairs.
  • Inspect and test equipment; replace worn parts.
  • Replace defective components and perform adjustments.
  • Flush radiators and replace antifreeze.
  • Perform oil changes and diagnose wear.
  • Conduct engine tune-ups.
  • Armor vehicle installation procedures per manufacturer specs.
  • Repair automotive locks; install new equipment as assigned.
  • Perform state safety and emission inspections.
  • Identify parts and materials needed for repairs.
  • Estimate cost and labor for repairs.
  • Respond to emergency road calls; test drive vehicles.
  • Respond to emails and calls; ensure vehicle support.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
