The Fleet Utility Worker is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Kirby’s barge fleet, including land-based and floating facilities along the Mississippi River between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. The role involves working across all Kirby fleet locations in the region, using a company vehicle to service these sites, and ensuring operational readiness through hands-on tasks in a marine environment.
Hours are from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Must adapt to changing schedules, weather conditions, and work around water.
High school diploma or GED. Marine, mechanical, or construction experience is preferred; prior deckhand or marine experience is highly attractive but not mandatory.
