Job summary

Summit School Services is seeking a Fleet Tech II to diagnose and repair school bus fleets, working across braking, electrical, HVAC, and drivetrains. You will perform inspections, sign-offs, and mobile repairs as needed, ensuring uptime for routes.

The role requires 3 years of mechanical experience with diesel and gasoline systems, strong diagnostic skills, and a CDL training path. CDL preferred and ASE training incentives are available, with a focus on safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Minimum three (3) years of light/medium/heavy-duty mechanic repair experience.
• Able to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and A/C issues with diagnostic equipment.
• Experience with diesel and gasoline systems; CDL preferred with company training available.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair automotive and diesel systems including brakes, steering, suspension, drivetrains, electrical, cooling, and fuel systems.
• Perform engine adjustments, rebuilds, and test drives to verify repairs.
• Complete required safety inspections and sign-offs before releasing vehicles.
• Maintain a clean, safe workspace adhering to federal, state, and local standards.
• Identify and report additional service needs or complex issues.
• Log labor hours, parts used, and completed work in the maintenance system.
• Report safety concerns to leadership immediately.
• Respond to road calls and perform mobile repairs when needed.
• Model professionalism, teamwork, and integrity.
• Other duties as assigned.
