Job summary

U.S. Xpress is seeking a Fleet Tech I at our Chicago terminal. The role involves performing basic preventative maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers to keep operations running smoothly.

The candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with a diesel technology diploma preferred and at least 1 year of mechanical experience. DOT certification is required for PMs and brake work.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical Diploma in Diesel Technology preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of mechanical experience preferred.
• DOT and Brake certifications are required to perform PMs and brake work.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers.
• Inspect and repair brakes, tires, wiring and fluids.
• Change tires and grease mechanical parts.
• Maintain productivity and adhere to PM guidelines.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.
