Job summary

The City of Delaware is seeking skilled technicians for its Public Works Fleet Maintenance Division to inspect, diagnose and repair City vehicles and equipment. Work ranges from Apprentice to Technician III levels, with opportunities for advancement and overtime during winter operations.

Overtime and on-call duties may be required; candidates should have basic automotive knowledge, be able to operate diagnostic tools, and possess a valid Ohio CDL Class A with air-brake endorsement.

Qualifications

• Apprentice level requires basic automotive knowledge and ability to read work orders.
• Technician I requires two years of relevant auto/mech experience or equivalent training.
• Technician II/III require progressively more experience and ability to plan repairs.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose and perform minor repairs on City vehicles and equipment.
• Assist with emergency service calls for disabled vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and cost of repairs and order needed parts.
