Job summary

Sysco is seeking a Fleet Technician Journeyman/Technician to support safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles. You will learn preventive maintenance inspections and diagnose repairs to minimize downtime and improve fleet reliability.

Under supervision you will service tractors, trailers, lift gates and light vehicles, documenting work in SAP and ensuring compliance with DOT standards. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy and teamwork within a busy maintenance environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 2-year tech training in Medium/Heavy Duty truck maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under supervision on tractors, trailers, convertor dollies, lift gates and light duty vehicles.
• Learn to perform maintenance repairs including diagnostic and road-call repairs on engines, transmissions, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust, HVAC, liftgate hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Document all work in SAP with issue/cause/correction format.
• Develop efficiency in maintenance related to Sysco computer programs.
• Determine roadworthiness and DOT compliance before equipment return to operations.
• Collaborate with management to plan a prioritized work schedule for fleet equipment.

JOB SUMMARY

To assist Fleet Technician Journeyman and Fleet Technicians in providing safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by learning to perform quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as learning to perform diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under the guidance of fleet technician journeyman, fleet technician or fleet manager on vehicles and equipment (Tractors, Trailers, Convertor Dollies, Lift Gates, Light Duty Vehicles) to maximize the safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the life cycle of the fleet to include, but not limited to FAI/CVI (First Article Inspection/ Commerical Vehicle Inspection) (Annual) Inspections
• Learn to perform maintenance repairs on all vehicles under the guidance of fleet technician journeyman, fleet technician or fleet manager such as inspections, scheduled repairs, malfunctions and road-call repairs in a safe, efficient, and quality manner to include, but not limited to addressing all driver Vehicle Inspection Report (VIR) write-ups in a timely manner, diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repairs to engines, transmissions, fuel & ignition systems, exhaust systems (including Regen), intake systems, brake systems, Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems, liftgate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Document all work performed on the work order (SAP) using complaint, cause, and correction format
• Learn & develop efficiency in all maintenance related to Sysco computer programs
• Decide if a piece of equipment is roadworthy and meets DOT regulations before being released back to operations use. This could cause operations to incur additional expense by renting equipment but the safety of personnel and FMCR should always take precedence.
• Collaborate with management to create a prioritized work schedule of all fleet equipment that will take into consideration operation needs and pm compliance to strategically place resources as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High school diploma or Equivalent, Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training 2-year school

Experience

• None required with proper education

Professional Skills

• Current and Valid Drivers License, CDL-A Preferred
• Basic Knowledge and skill of all vehicle systems and Components
• Basic knowledge and skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical systems on all equipment
• Basic knowledge and skill in welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG)
• Physical demands to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend and crawl
• Vision abilities to include Close & Distance vision, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
