Job summary

University of California, Santa Barbara's Transportation & Parking Services seeks an Assistant Director to manage all business functions, supervise staff, and oversee a $2.5 million operating budget and a campus fleet of about 400 vehicles.

Reporting to TPS Director, the role covers strategic planning, financial management, systems analysis, and leadership to modernize operations, with a 100% time commitment and a hybrid work arrangement at the Central Garage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related area or equivalent experience/training.
• 4-6 years of management and supervision in fleet and auto tech shop management. Financial reporting and analysis skills.
• Progressively responsible supervisory experience; ability to supervise professional, technical and supervisory personnel.
• Solid interpersonal skills, service orientation, ability to multi-task in high-volume environments, good judgement and communication skills.
• Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and control operational budgets for multi-functional programs.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and management for the Transportation division of TPS.
• Oversee a fleet of approximately 400 vehicles and a ~$2.5M operating budget; supervise eight FTE.
• Perform financial modeling, reporting, and budget processes; coordinate with IT for systems needs.
• Lead planning and implementation of databases and applications relevant to transportation operations.
