Job summary

Coca-Cola Bottling Company High Country is seeking a Fleet Service Technician to perform day-to-day maintenance and repairs on the company fleet. You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a variety of vehicles, while upholding safety and quality standards.

The role requires hands-on mechanical skills, experience with heavy diesel systems, and an active Class A CDL. A robust benefits package and growth opportunities are available in this team-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of mechanic experience on light and heavy equipment.
  • 3+ years journeyman mechanic experience preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience with heavy diesel mechanical work.
  • Active Class A CDL or ability to obtain one; compliant with CDL requirements.
  • ASE certification preferred; trade school or military training.

Responsibilities

What will you do as a Fleet Service Technician?

As a part of the Fleet Operations Team, the Fleet Technician is responsible for performing day to day mechanic repairs to the company assets including troubleshooting, diagnosing and completing repairs on all types of vehicles. This position will also perform inspections as required by regulations

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and complete repairs on all types of vehicles.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and unscheduled repair work on company fleet.
  • Must be able to perform tasks with the most cost effective possible way to maintain budget limits.
  • Must be willing to perform emergency repairs out of town at a moment’s notice.
  • Perform Daily DOT inspections.
  • Perform Annual DOT Inspections.
  • Welding or fabrication of parts for repairs.
  • Respond to service calls.
  • Maintain tools.
  • Clean work area.
  • Pick up and deliver vehicles (may include overnight stay).

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • 1+ years of mechanic experience on light and heavy equipment required.
  • 3+ years journeyman mechanic experience preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience with heavy diesel mechanical work.
  • Demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude.
  • Must have an active Class A CDL or ability to obtain a Class A CDL and ability to learn to operate a Class A CDL tractor and trailer, understand and remain in compliance with all CDL requirements and have a motor vehicle driving history that meets CCBCHC guidelines.
  • May be required to supply automotive hand tools. (Not including heavy duty or diagnostic tools.)
  • ASE certification preferred; Trade School or military training and education.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
  • Continuing education to maintain certification and a current working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.

  • If any new EPA regulations arise with petroleum, tech would be required to attend those informational sessions on a continuous schedule.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Work environment is both shop and field. Field work involves but is not limited to, heights, confined space, and outdoors.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds (i.e. – tires, wheels, transmissions, iron, drums of petroleum, batteries).
  • Work involves walking, talking and hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus when using computer terminal or working on small components.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time while working on equipment.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):
  • Hearing protection dependent on specified areas
  • Hard hat Hazardous Material Suit for Battery Acid
  • Gloves for welding
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately noisy due to manufacturing and/or warehousing equipment in operation.
  • Must be willing to travel to other company locations approximately 10% and attend out-of-town training and/or seminars.
  • Some areas are slippery due to the production process.
  • Warehouse area has heavy forklift travel.
