Job summary

Knight Transportation in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead a fleet of 30+ drivers, optimize routing and profitability, and ensure safe, timely service. You will develop strong relationships with Driving Associates, planners, and sales teams to drive performance and retention.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
• Must possess exceptional communication skills.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Must be able to work in high pressure situations in a fast paced environment.
• Must be proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Lead a fleet of 30+ drivers and manage driver availability to maximize productivity.
• Routinely review Profit/Loss (P/L) for assigned area and maximize profitability.
• Develop relationships with Driving Associates to improve safety, service, equipment care, fuel performance and retention.
• Coach Driving Associates to achieve weekly mileage goals and optimize home time and hours of service.
• Maximize P/L for all assigned tractors and coordinate with planners to assign drivers to optimal lanes.
• Communicate service expectations and load details with drivers on every plan.
• Provide training and coaching to Driving Associates to reach peak performance.
• Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers and conduct timely reviews.
• Track freight to final destination to ensure on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Collaborate with sales/account teams to keep customers informed and aligned.
